John begins his gospel by saying, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” (John 1:1ESV).  John makes it abundantly clear that, not only was Jesus there in the beginning, he was intimately involved in making everything.  He says, “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3).  Jesus was so fully involved that, as God spoke about the Creation, he used the plural term: “Let us make…” (Genesis 1:26 ESV).

Not only was Jesus involved in the Creation but also throughout the Old Testament.  This is why, after his death, it was reported that he talked to his disciples about himself from the Old Testament Scriptures.  “And he said to them, ‘O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!  Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?’  And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:25–27 ESV).  He declared, “For if you believed Moses, you would believe in me; for he wrote of me” (John 5:46 ESV).  Moses wrote the first five books of the Old Testament and the prophets authored the last seventeen.  Jesus was showing the disciples that he was involved at the beginning and all the way through the Old Testament.  It must have been with great sorrow that Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me” (John 5:39).

One thing is for sure: The Real Jesus Was Here From The Beginning!
